NBA Star Patrick Patterson Catches Heat for Calling Black Women ‘Bulldogs’

Patrick Patterson

*LA Clipper player Patrick Patterson is catching heat for an old Instagram post in which he called Black women “bulldogs” while gushing about his longtime love Sarah Nasser, who is white.

The online drama was ignited when the former Oklahoma City Thunder star responded to an Instagram user who asked him why so many Black athletes prefer to marry the mother of the white race.

“So I should settle for a bulldog and act like I’m happy with my life and preach ‘keep it in your race’ to the world as if Dr. King didn’t fight/die for equality, acceptance, all cultures loving one another, and no hate?”

“No thanks,” he continued, via Ace Showbiz. “That maybe your life but I don’t want that for mine or my family. Color doesn’t matter. Wake up.”

In his original post, Patterson wrote to Nasser: “In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine. Happy Anniversary.”

“Beautiful,” one IG follower replied, “but you don’t have to insult a race of women to uplift another race of women. Is your mom a bulldog? What about your grandma? Again, you seem truly in love with your wife and that’s amazing. Many blessing to us all.”

“Did you call black women bull dogs? i mean marry who you want, i’m mixed race myself but … am i the only one caught that?” another user commented.

“Date and marry whoever you want, but don’t you ever in your life refer to black women as Bulldogs or any type of animal for that matter,” wrote a third commenter.

“Nobody cares that you married a white woman. If that’s your preference, cool. But referring to the women of your own race as ‘bulldogs’ is vile and unnecessary. Says a lot about your character or lack thereof,” another follower added.

“This young brother like so many of his professional athletic colleagues (black men) is the product of white is right (white women) black is whack (black women). They have no idea how damaging that attitude is to the whole of black people.”

“Black women and girls are beautiful and intelligent full stop. Patrick’s animus for black women is a reflection of his desire for proximity to whiteness. His marriage to his white wife is a desire to be a white man. He can’t be one so marry the next best thing “a white woman.”

BUT WAIT….THERE’S MORE = peep his additional comment via the screen grab below, in which he tells a Black woman that he would go blind looking at her.

One Twitter user summed it up best with, “A self hating Black man who’s gonna procreate self hating Black children, and blame it all on Black women. All while looking like a bulldog himself.”

Another added, “He literally could have made his “love is love” point without the “bulldog” comment. The fact that he felt the need to throw that in proves it’s not just about “love is love.” He actively has animosity towards black women and that’s the problem. His wife should be ashamed.”

It’s worth noting that many non-black women can’t get down with a Black man unless he hates blackness (especially Black women) as much as she does. So why would Patterson’s lover be ashamed of his comments. She most likely agrees with him.

“Unfortunately, their kids won’t “look black” which I’m sure is what he wants. So his mixed kids will never truly feel how harmful his statement is,” wrote one Twitter user in response to Patterson’s messy comment.

Meanwhile, Patterson’s PR rep must have called him out and told him to shut up because he issued an “apology” that you can read via the IG embed below… y’all accept it?
