Cris Carter: Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Fired from Fox Sports 1

*Former Vikings star wide receiver Cris Carter is out at Fox, and the reason, apparently a serious one, according to the New York Post, has not been disclosed.

Fox Sports 1 announced on November 7, the immediate departure for Carter, who has been a member of the network since December of 2016, following an eight-year tenure with ESPN.

Via The Blast:

Carter’s career with FS1 took a nasty turn this NFL season, as, according to reports, he was upset with the network choosing another former Hall of Famer, Tight End Tony Gonzalez, to be an analysis on the network’s Thursday Night Football coverage. Gonzalez has been with the network since May of 2017 after a short tenure with the CBS football program.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was an intense, emotional meeting between Carter and his bosses at the network. At that point, Carter was suspended indefinitely from the air, showing that his days at the network were limited.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead, Carter was escorted out by security after having his desk cleaned out. Currently, NFL defensive lineman Chris Canty has taken Carter’s spot on the morning show he co-hosted.

“Cris Carter is no longer with Fox Sports,” a spokesperson for the Murdoch-owned outlet announced Thursday. “There is no further comment at this time.”

Deadline writes, “Absent from the air since October 30, I hear that Carter has been the subject of an internal probe at Fox Sports involving his conduct, though the exact nature of the investigation is being tightly contained.”

Carter was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013 after a 12-year career, most of that time with the Vikings.
