*Big names hit the red carpet premiere for Apple Tv+ new drama series Truth Be Told. The star-studded event took place at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles Monday night.
The show stars Octavia Spencer as Poppy Parnell, a podcaster who plans to reopen a murder case that she is convinced helped put away Warren Cave (Aaron Paul) for the last 19 years.
With new evidence on the rise, Parnell believes she made a big mistake and that Cave is actually innocent, so through her podcast, Poppy tries to right her wrong.
EURweb was there and caught up with some of the cast members about their characters, working together and the meaning of black girl magic.

“My character was really very close to me. I think the only part that we really had to tap into was the fact that Poppy, Octavia Spencer’s character, and myself as Lillian don’t really get along. She’s not really appreciative of the fact that I have stepped in as her step-mother.” – Tami Roman on her sexy character, Lillian.
Nichelle Tramble Spellman the producer, writer and executive producer of the show reveals exactly what black girl magic means to her while bringing this to life.
“Being able to go after and realize their dreams no matter what they are. Just the idea that there’s no limitations, that there’s no cap on the sky. You can do what your heart desires.”
The drama series is based on Kathleen Barber’s original novel “Truth Be Told” which shines a light on America’s obsession with true-crime podcasts and makes audiences consider the importance of giving justice system matters to the public.
Will the truth be revealed in this story? That answer will start by tuning in to Truth Be Told on Friday, December 6 on Apple TV+.
