*So, is Miguel coming from a dark place these days or is he just having some Halloween fun? We ask because his new song, “Funeral,” released on Halloween day, is rather, how shall we say, graphic:
“Send my regards to the mother and father/ ‘Cause somebody’s daughter I just f—ing slayed,” he sings over a thumping drum track. “Blood on the carpet, it came from my heart/ Once I start I can’t stop it/ And now we all pray.”

“Funeral” is also the name of his upcoming EP, says Miguel, who talks about its direction:
“I’m releasing more music all the way into the new year but “Funeral” is the perfect song to get it started. I’ve been exploring darker tones and themes for some time, this song whets the imagination for what’s to come.”
The EP will continue to build with each new song until it’s fully released this winter, says Sony.
“Funeral,” in case you’re not paying attention, marks the first official release from Miguel since his 2017 critically acclaimed album War & Leisure, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart and #9 on the Billboard 200 chart.
