THE REAL (and Loni!) Helps A Single Mom Rebuild, and Welcomes Jane Seymour

*On Wednesday, October, 30, The Real welcomes back guest host Amanda Seales, and the hosts talk about the idea of being “woke” and the concept of “cancel culture.”

Also, Amanda discusses an idea from her book, Small Doses: Potent Truths For Everyday Use, about the perks of “Bae Life,” or small things about being in a relationship that help your everyday life. Co-host Adrienne Houghton remembers being single in New York and having to ask for help with the zipper on her dress, and co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley appreciates when husband Adam picks her up at the airport and brings her a snack!

The ladies talk to Yeimi Quintanilla, a single mom from Lynwood, CA whose house burned down in a fire last spring. The hosts have a plan to surprise her with money to help rebuild, but co-host Loni Love spontaneously changes the game in a moment viewers will long remember.

And then actress Jane Seymour stops by to chat about Season 2 of The Kominsky Method. She also reveals a hilarious trick taught to her by Adrienne when the two did a movie together years ago!

Amanda Seales on “Bae Life”

Loni Love: What is a “Bae Life?”

Amanda Seales: Having a boo.

Loni: Oh, ok.

Amanda: You know – being out of a “situationship” and in a relationship. Possession of a “boonopolis.” You know, aside from just the like the basics of having someone to share with and being able to have an emotional counterpart, etc., all that stuff, there’s also like just certain practical stuff, like I… for those of us who have been single, the zipper scenario.

Jeannie Mai: Oh my god!

Amanda: Is…

Jeannie: A real deal.

Amanda: Really, a real deal, like having someone to unzip and zip you, having someone to cut out your ponytail when it’s sewed in, like literally, I have been in situations where I almost had a full-on panic attack because I couldn’t get a ponytail out and had to really sit there and be like, “But if I had a man…”’

Adrienne Houghton: But have you slept in your dress before, because I –

Jeannie: Yeah, have you ever had to go to sleep in your dress because you couldn’t get out of it?

Adrienne: Or, or you put your dress on and your Uber driver has to zip you the rest of the way up?

Amanda: Did you give a big tip?

Adrienne: Or hoping that someone in your elevator is – you’re like, “Hi…” It’s a random girl in your elevator taking out the trash. “Zip me up.”

Tamera Mowry-Housley: I do have a solution for you about this zipper thing. I used to go through this all the time. No! Just get a hanger!

Jeanne and Tamera: A wire hanger.

Amanda: And unwind it?

Tamera: Yes, and then all you got to do is go [DEMONSTRATES REACHING BEHIND HER AND ZIPPING UP DRESS]

Jeannie: How do you find the little hole?

[The Real audience applauds]

Adrienne: When you’ve stuffed yourself in dressed that don’t fit…

Amanda: There’s that.

Tamera (still demonstrating): So you go right here, and then loooooop!

Jeanne: Miss Self-Sufficiency.

Tamera: I almost had a panic attack too; I almost cried. You find yourself having an attitude with yourself.

Adrienne: In New York City taking off boots?

Tamera: You start sweating.

Adrienne: You ever couldn’t take off your boot? [ACCIDENTLY KNOCKS HER SHOE INTO HER FACE]

Amanda: My god, that was dangerous.

Adrienne: Almost killed myself here.

Loni: Amanda, are you dating someone?

Amanda: Yes.

[The Real audience applauds]

Amanda: We’re leaving it right there.

Tamera: We’re leaving it right there?

Amanda: We’re leaving it right there in my tea.
