*The 25th Anniversary of the S. E. Manly Short Film Festival and African American Film Marketplace is underway! Screenings began last night and will continue through Sunday, October 27th, 2019. Ninety films were selected from over 1000 entries from around the world.
The stories investigate social justice issues, inspire, challenge and entertain; set to real-life problems, written to amuse and heal the soul. Making a grand presence is Films With A Purpose and the debut of an animated short by the festival’s namesake, founder and visionary Sandra Evers Manly.
The film is Imani The Super Little Engineer and it premieres Thursday October 24th at 7:00 PM at the Cinemark 18 & XD at Howard Hughes promenade in Los Angeles, along with Avenging Angel; written & directed by Illunga Adell, produced by Jimmy Trip, Sandra Evers Manly, John Forbes and Marche Meeks. Dallas Invisible: written and directed by Paulura Hawkins & produced by Sandra Evers Manly is also in the Thursday night line up.
For the full schedule and line up go to BHERC.org.
Tickets can be purchased in blocks, a day pass or a full festival pass; which includes tickets to the star studded gala which (as previously reported) honors Oz Scott, Neema Barnett, Chas Floyd Johnson and Pat Prescott.
