*Issa Rae is the latest celebrity to lend her voice to Google Assistant.
The actress-writer-producer the is second celeb cameo for the digital virtual assistant, after singer John Legend came to the platform earlier this year. His vocals are still an option on the platform.
Rae’s voice rolled out as a cameo on Oct. 10, available in English for a limited time in the U.S. for free. To switch to Rae’s voice, users simply tell their smartphone, smart speaker or other Assistant-compatible devices: “Hey Google, talk like Issa.”

According to Variety, Rae spent more than 40 hours saying “random sentences” in the recording booth for Google Assistant,
“One of the most fun days was just being myself – I give people compliments,” she said. Rae said listening to her own synthesized voice on Google Assistant was a bit bizarre: “I’ve heard it, and it’s me, which is very interesting.”
We previously reported,…Issa Rae is eyeing a remake of “Set It Off” as her next project.
While some fans across social media are thrilled by the news, others are not feeling her reported “reimagining” of the 1996 crime drama, which Variety reports Rae will produce and possibly star in the film.
One Twitter user wrote: “We love you #IssaRae, but leave Set it Off alone please.”
