*When you first hear about “A Clear Shot” you think of the definition “to have a very good chance to accomplish something.”
Well, director Nick Leisure wanted to tell the true story of a group of young men from Sacramento who did exactly that in 1991 … but dangerously!
“A Clear Shot” is a movie about four gunmen who walked into an electronics store and held everyone hostage at gunpoint. The film stars actors Mario Van Peebles, Mandela Van Peebles, Glenn Plummer and comedian Lance Woods.
With Nick Leisure behind the camera as the director, he took a real-life experience from his childhood and bought it to the screen. Though the movie takes place in Sacramento, Nick filmed the movie in Mexico.
This past weekend (10-6-19) I had the opportunity to attend the LA Premiere and spoke to some of the movie’s cast members. Mario Van Peebles is historically known to work both in front of and behind the camera, but in this production, he is one of the leading men, co-starring with his son Mandela Van Peebles.

I asked Mandella what it was like working with his father, as Mario historically worked with his dad, Melvin, on films. Mandella said:
“ Me and My dad we got so many relationships, we got the father-son, the friend relationship, a working relationship and even that has small nuances”
“A Clear Shot” has a diverse cast and when I spoke with Latina actresses Jessica Meza and Sandra Gutierrez about diversity in Hollywood, they both said that even though Hollywood is doing a great job with inclusiveness, there still needs to be room for more Latina people in front and behind the camera.
I am very excited to see this film and learn about the true events that took place that one fatal day in 1991.
