What is Your Personal Brand - Depositphotos_71125227_s-2019

*45 percent of consumers won’t shop from a brand if they promote their products too much. So, what do you promote or talk about instead?

Your brand.

Branding is much more than a logo and a website. It’s the story behind your business, the problems you solve, and the people you serve. Without these things, you don’t have a brand.

To stand out from the crowd, make your brand pop. Here are the first steps to creating a brand image.

1. Tell Your Story

Why did you start your business? What problem did you observe and decide you were the one to solve it? These are questions that every business owner should be able to answer.

The answers are unique to every business owner. Which is why understanding how to convey these answers can help you stand out.

Think of your brand as a story. It has a beginning, middle, but no end yet. There’s been conflict, triumphs, and losses. Embrace the flaws in your story, it’ll make you more authentic to your audience.

Once you’ve written every detail of your brand story, pick out the most important parts. Create a brand mission that unites everyone on your team. This creates a strong foundation for further branding practices.

2. Meet Your Buyer Personas

Who is your target audience? If you say, middle-aged women, you’re not diving deep enough. Which middle-aged women are in your target audience?

This activity is about creating buyer personas.

The more you know about your ideal customer, the better you can serve them. Since no one wants to be sold to constantly, you need to know other ways to get their attention.

An example of a buyer persona would be Debra, a woman in her mid-forties who is planning retirement but currently enjoys her job. She earns an income of $60,000 per year, has children heading off to college, and is passionate about becoming healthier.

Debra is a real person, she’s many real people. When you create her persona, you give yourself more details to play with in your targeting. A strong brand knows exactly who they’re catering to.

3. Create Brand Designs

Now comes the step you were expecting: logos, colors, website design, and advertising.

It’s crucial that your brand appears consistent across every medium. Your social media pages, website, business cards, and promo materials should all have the same branding.

Create a branding document on your computer that includes all the details of your brand. For example, include your brand colors and their HTML codes so your web designers know which colors to use.

Include the fonts, images, and copy style you want to use. Learn how to design a logo online or hire a professional. All that matters is that it gets your completely unique brand message across.
