*Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, recently appeared on Nick Cannon’s Close Conversations show on Power 106 where he talked about his famous son using their complicated relationship to sell records.

“I have always been with Drake. I talked to him if not every day, every other day and we really got into a deep conversation about that,” Graham told Cannon during the interview on Oct. 4, per XXL. “I said, ‘Drake why are you saying all of this different stuff about me, man? This is not cool.’ And he goes ‘Dad, it sells records.'”

Drake has responded to his father’s comments on Instagram—and he doesn’t sound too happy.

“Woke up today so hurt man. My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with … every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept,” he wrote.

Drake has been vocal about the divorce of his parents and his father not being as present in his life as much as he would have liked.

According to Complex, Dennis told Cannon, “I exposed him to every aspect of life. I never hid anything from him… I showed him this side of life. I showed him that side of life.”

Graham previously spoke out about his son exaggerating their relationship to impress his fans. During his appearance on ItsTheReal’s A Waste of Time podcast, Dennis recalled the time he asked Drake to stop portraying him in a negative light in his music. The Canadian rapper responded by telling his father to “Just go with the flow. This shit sells records.”
