Joshua Brown: Key Witness in Amber Guyger Trial ‘Executed’ + Activist Offers $100K Reward to Find His Killers

Joshua Brown

*Joshua Brown, a witness who testified against Amber Guyger during her murder trail last week, was fatally shot two days after the former Texas cop was sentenced to 10 years in prison for killing Botham Jean in his apartment.

While Black folks were whining about having more compassion and forgiveness for whites and white supremacists following the sentencing phase of the trail, “others” were plotting Brown’s demise.

The 28-year-old lived across the hall from Botham at the time of the 2018 shooting, and he was reportedly ambushed and gunned down Friday at a Dallas apartment complex, The Dallas Morning News reported. Brown was allegedly shot in his mouth and chest. He was exiting his car at his apartment when he was ambushed and shot at close range.

Activists are calling his murder an “execution,” and many suspect the white supremacists who have infiltrated the Dallas PD as responsible for his death.

Shaun King announced Sunday that poker player and film producer Bill Perkins has offered $100,000 reward to find Brown’s killers, per Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Police Department told TIME in a statement that they responded to the shooting at Brown’s residence and found him, “lying on the ground in the apartment parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.” He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

”Joshua was executed,” King said in a tweet, adding that “we won’t stop until we find who murdered Joshua and why”

Police have not yet apprehended or identified a suspect in Brown’s shooting.

Many are convinced that the police know who is responsible for the shooting and will protect the killer(s) by any means necessary.

Attorney Lee Merrit, who represented Jean’s family during the trial, took to social media over the weekend to address Brown’s death.

“His murder underscores the reality of the black experience in America,” Merrit wrote on a social media post on Saturday. “A former athlete turned entrepreneur— Brown lived in constant fear that he could be the next victim of gun violence, either state sanctioned or otherwise.”

Merrit added, “Brown deserves the same justice he sought to ensure the Jean family. The Dallas County criminal justice system must mobilized to identify his killer and see that he is held accountable for this murder.”

Merrit shared a video of Brown’s testimony, where he became emotional while speaking about how he was able to hear Jean “singing every morning” from his apartment.

“He was deeply effected [sic] by this murder. But by testifying that he could hear Botham singing in his apartment he undermines a key element of the defense,” Merrit wrote, adding that Guyger “claimed she shouted commands to Botham before shooting him.”

Brown testified trial that he was able to hear what sounded like “two people meeting by surprise” followed by two gunshots, reported The Dallas Morning News.

In an interview with The Dallas Morning News, prosecutor Jason Hermus praised Brown for “bravely coming forward to testify when others wouldn’t,” adding, “If we had more people like him, we would have a better world (or a helluvalot more dead Black people for telling the truth).
