TAYO Fatunla: Nigeria’s Independence at 59 Going on 60

TAYO - Nigeria

*Nigeria, the most populous nation in Africa ranks among the 7 most powerful African countries on earth and the nation’s military might is rated 43rd in the world. Today (10-01-19) Nigeria marked its 59th independence anniversary.

Here is OUR ROOTS Nigeria special to commemorate 59 years of a Nation that has influenced the world through arts, culture, music, cartoons, sports, education, science, business, finance, resources and more not only through Nigerians in Nigeria but also by diaspora Nigerians.

Nigeria is nation whose democracy has stood the test of time. A nation that fought and won the Biafra war and a nation that defeated Ebola and has taken the battle to Boko Haram and Militant herdsmen…still ongoing.

To borrower a line from the nation’s national anthem….The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain (Amen).

“Congratulations fellow Nigerians”…. Nigeria will survive another 59 years and in 2020 Nigeria will be 60.
