Black Girl Magic Takes Over the Red Carpet At ‘Always A Bridesmaid’ Premiere – WATCH

The black girl magic that hit the red carpet Monday at the AMC 5 in Hollywood was undeniable.

“Always A Bridesmaid” is BET’s new movie starring Javicia Lesli (God Friended Me), Jordan Calloway (Black Lighting), Yvette Nicole Brown (Avengers: Endgame) and Richard Lawson (For Colored Girls).

The romantic comedy, written and executive produced by Brown, follows Corina Jones who has been a bridesmaid so many times that she’s starting to wonder if she will ever be a bride or if she even wants to be one?

EURweb hit the red carpet to talk to the cast and crew of this complicated love story.

“I never intended for it to be made, I made it for me,” Brown explains while reminiscing over the script she wrote 20 years ago on a floppy disk. “ I wanted to write a movie like “While You Were Sleeping” or a “Harry Met Sally” but with us, so I wrote what I didn’t see.”

T.I. FELT ‘EXPLOITED’ BY ATLANTA MEGACHURCH DURING KANYE WEST’S ‘SUNDAY SERVICE’

Even after 20 years Tri Destined Studios and BET Networks knew this was the perfect time for this refreshing film. As it explores if love and marriage is for everyone and if so, how do you get over your own baggage in order to find the one? Which I believe is a question most women ask their selves.

“Corina is a beautiful mess.” Lead star Javicia Lesli says “We get to fall into why she’s a beautiful mess. What relationships have affected her, what happened in her past that got her to where she is.” Lesli explains “When we focus on all the elements surrounding who she is then you can play the levels of her beautiful mess.”

Once the red carpet wrapped up they shuffled everyone into the theater to view the beautiful, refreshing and sweet love story. So make sure you’re tuning in to BET Saturday, October 28 at 8/7c.
