*The 2019 BMI R&B Hip Hop Awards descended on the city of Atlanta on at the end of last month, taking place at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
Like every year, the event brought out some of the biggest names in entertainment, and paid homage to singer, Brandy, who received this year’s President’s Award.
Other celebrities who appeared on the red carpet were Ludacris, DC Young Fly, Safaree, Erica Mena, Kierra Sheard, Elijah Connor, Jade Novah and many others.
The BMI R&B Hip Hop Awards is an annual event that honors the premier singers, songwriters, publishers and producers.
Some of the highlights were a musical tribute to late rapper and philanthropist, Nipsey Hussle, a performance of the hit song “Drip to Hard” by Gunna and Lil Baby, extraordinary performances by Kierra Sheard who performed “Have You Ever” and “He Is,” and Eric Bellinger who performed “Baby” and “Nothing.” Brandy’s brother, Ray J. joined his big sister on stage and sang the song “Best Friend” right before she was presented with the President’s Award. Finally, Brandy surprised the audience with performances of her hits “I Wanna Be Down” and “Almost Doesn’t Count.”
