Colin Kaepernick’s ‘Dream Crazy’ Nike Ad Wins an Emmy

*Nike’s controversial “Dream Crazy” ad featuring Colin Kaepernick won the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Commercial on Saturday.

The ad, created by the Wieden+Kennedy ad agency and produced by Park Pictures, features Kaepernick narrating as several other star athletes appear in the 2-minute piece, including Serena Williams and LeBron James.

The ad, which encourages viewers to “dream crazy,” premiered to both praise and outrage, as folk took issue with with Colin’s line, “Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything.”

Sources tell TMZ that Kap is especially proud of the Emmy win because he was involved in the creative process.

“Don’t picture yourself wearing [Odell Beckham’s] jersey. Picture OBJ wearing yours,” Kap said in the spot which dropped back in September. As he shared inspirational messages about overcoming the odds, Colin also referenced Shaquem Griffin, LeBron James and Serena Williams. 

“And, if you’re a girl from Compton, don’t just become a tennis player. Become the greatest athlete ever. Yeah, that’s more like it.”

While folks burned their shoes and boycotted Nike over the ad, mainly beccause they’re pissed that Colin “sacrificed” his NLF career to protest police britality and social injustice.
