*The latest celebrity news and gossip comes from the world of politics. Former first daughter Sasha Obama is all grown up and on her way to college. She is expected to begin school as a freshman at the University of Michigan this fall.
No official statement has been made by the University confirming or denying her enrollment. However, several students have seen her on campus flanked by Secret Service escorts, and the latest celebrity gossip news reporters looking at her Instagram account have seen a few shots of the Ann Arbor, Michigan, campus along with her friends who are known to be attending.

A Break With Family Tradition
If Sasha begins school at this well-regarded state university, it will be a departure from the family norm of attending Ivy League colleges. As you’ve probably already learned through celebrity gossip news, both parents and sister Malia attended Harvard University. Michele and Barack Obama were both in graduate school at Harvard but attended Princeton and Columbia as undergrads, respectively. Malia is currently still a student at Harvard, where she began following a gap year interning in the film industry, according to Hollywood celebrity gossip.
The University of Michigan, however, is regarded as a top-caliber school in many disciplines. They are one of the top 10 schools in law and medicine. The school is considered to be one of the best academic options not only in the state of Michigan but in the Midwest region. As can be found in much alternative celebrity gossip, the school has educated a lot of celebs, including Madonna, Selma Blair, Lucy Liu, Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, and President Gerald Ford.
Early School Days
Sasha and her sister Malia attended the University of Chicago Laboratory schools until ages 7 and 10 when they followed their father to Washington D.C. to live in the White House. They both graduated from Sidwell Friends School, a small, private Quaker school known for educating the children of Washington elite shielded from the eyes of the public. Her parents stayed in town after President Obama stepped down in 2017 so that Sasha could finish school in the same place she had spent the last eight years.
Updates May Be Rare
The first daughters have been able to shy away from being a part of celebrity gossip over the years. The Obama family, while in the White House, maintained as much of a normal routine for the girls as they could. They had a $1 per week allowance with chores and a strict, 8 p.m. bedtime. Celebrity gossip columns have long given the respect asked for to the children of politicians and kept them from the public eye; although, we have seen some instances of the girls’ personal lives during recent years.
As neither Sasha nor Malia, both young adults, have done much to generate scandal, it is unlikely that these girls will be the topic of today’s celebrity gossip in early adulthood. This may change if they decide to become members of future campaigns, or if perhaps their mother Michelle decided to run for president someday. As she was once President Obama’s law school tutor, this smart, capable woman could choose to do just that. If not, the two Obama daughters may opt to follow their father’s legacy.
