Wendy Williams Doesn’t Regret Being ‘Tough’ on Whitney Houston in Infamous 2003 Interview [VIDEO]

*While visiting “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen recently, Wendy Williams recalled her 2003 infamous interview with late singer Whitney Houston, and was asked if she had any regrets about it.

“Rest in peace, Whitney,” she said. “I wasn’t tough on her. Whitney stayed on the phone and she was the one drumming up all of the drama. I was sitting calmly. No!”

As noted by MadameNoire, back when Williams was the queen of New York urban radio, she couldn’t keep Houston’s name out her mouth — everything from Whitney’s alleged drug use to her volatile relationship with Bobby Brown to her controversial interview with Diane Sawyer in 2002. One day Whitney had enough and wanted to confront Wendy on the air.

Houston was originally set to promote her new album “Just Whitney” but the chat got pretty heated, with Whitney telling Williams at one point, “If this were back in the day in Newark, I’d meet you outside.”

Years after Whitney’s death, Wendy admitted in an interview with Jenny McCarthy: “It spiraled kind of crazy. I guess people think maybe I got off on that. I didn’t get off on it.”

While many might have thought Williams was inappropriate with her questions, Wendy felt she had to asked the music icon some tough questions because she and the singer had a lot in common, most notably their history of drug abuse.

“I’m not trying to get invited to your party. I don’t care about my kid playing with your kid,” Williams said. “I respect everybody in the celebrity world, but I’m too grown to get new.”

“It was easy to speak to her because it was like looking in the mirror,” she added. “‘Who you talking to Wendy? You don’t talk to me like that. Crack is wack!’ My disposition when I was speaking to Wendy was very, very calm. You know why? Because I understood.”

In related news, 50 Cent has put an end to his never-ending feud with the TV personality.

During the “Plead The Fifth” segment on WWHL, Cohen asked Wendy about her ex-husband Kevin Hunter, his mistress and their newborn daughter.

“I don’t know the baby, I don’t the women. I don’t know who Kevin became,” she replied.

Cohen then asked her to say three nice things about 50 Cent. She answered, “he’s not a bad looking man. I respect his hustle. And I was one of the first people to play his music.”

After the “Power” star caught wind of her comments, he took to his Instagram to write, “what is this, ok we gonna let you in TYCOON next time but you can’t just be coming to my party’s wit no invite #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac”

50 is referring to Williams allegedly being denied entry into his pool party last month.
