*L’Oréal Paris has announced that Academy Award-winning Viola Davis is joining Helen Mirren, Eva Longoria and Elle Fanning as the newest face of the brand.
The 54-year-old chocolate beauty will appear in ads for the brand’s Age Perfect line on TV, in print and online, US Magazine reports.
“As a young girl, I wasn’t always told that I was smart, beautiful or worthy,” she said in a press release from the brand. “I worked tremendously hard to get where I am today — overcoming feelings of doubt to become a woman who truly believes I am ‘worth it’ in every way. I believe it’s so important to build confidence in women from a young age and to role model diverse perspectives of beauty. To now be part of a brand that has been championing women’s worth for more than 40 years and to use my voice to help empower others is truly surreal.”

“We are excited to welcome our newest ambassador, Viola Davis, to the #lorealparisfamily. Actor, producer, author and advocate for women everywhere. She is an #unstoppable woman who is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. @violadavis, you are so #worthit!,” wrote L’Oreal Paris on Twitter.
In a Q&A, Davis revealed that she was quite honored by the new partnership.
“As someone who is, self-proclaimed, not a ‘classic’ beauty, my ultimate hope is that women out there are inspired by my image.”
Her favorite lipstick? L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Liquid Lipstick “because it comes in so many shades,” she said. “I love a statement shade.”
“I’ve never based my value on my physical appearance. It’s something I’m proud of,” Davis told L’Oréal, “However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot of fun with beauty products! There are necessities, of course, like clean and well-maintained hair and skin, but there is also more playful stuff, like lipstick.”
The company shared a short clip on Twitter of Viola celebrating her womanhood, along with the caption: “The newest member of the #lorealparisfamily, Viola Davis, is an #unstoppable force to be reckoned with.
