*Legendary rapper/actress MC Lyte now has a problem on her hands with an artist she hooked up with for a project, but she never compensated him. Now she is being fitted for a lawsuit.
The artist, Christopher Smith, claims in legal docs that he was hired as an artist, animator and writer on a project for MC Lyte’s entertainment management and production firm, Sunni Gyrl. That’s all and good, but of course, the problem is that he never got paid for his 1,228 hours on the job. He claims he’s owed a total of $38,375.
In the docs, Smith claims after he was let go from the project, MC Lyte and her biz partner Lynn Richardson sent him a check for $11,250 … but he says it bounced, reports TMZ.
And there’s this. Smith also claims the parties originally entered a settlement agreement for the unpaid wages but, when that check bounced, they filed suit.
So far, MC Lyte has not commented on the situation.
In other news, if you think it’s all over for the legendary female group Xscape, perish the thought. Well, for at least one more album. And you can tank Kandi Burruss’ moms, Mama Joyce.
It was all because of Mama Joyce’s mouth She said the quartet was getting back together during the 2019 Black Music Honors awards in Atlanta earlier this month. Members Burruss, Tiny Harris, LaTocha and Tamika Scott were there to accept the Urban Music Icon Award, according to theJasmineBrand.
Yep, it was Mama Joyce that sparked conversation when the moms were saluted during their acceptance speech. She said the ladies will put out another project.
“They still have one album left. The four of them, they started in my basement and I feel that they still have another album in them.”

Kandi Burruss admitted she was caught off guard, but revealed they aren’t completely against it.
“Obviously she put us on the spot but, I mean. I guess we gon’ grant her her wish. I didn’t know what to say but at the same time, she put it out there, my group members are here … we gon’ make it happen … we gon’ figure it out.”
Tiny Harris added this:
“Yeah, when everybody schedule get together we gon’ get in that studio.”
And Mama Joyce is standing by what she said.
“I feel like [Kandi] just need to get with them and they need to finish that one last album. They all got the voice. They voice is just as good if not better today than it was back 25 years ago.”
If it happens, this will be Xscape’s fourth studio album.
