Rihanna’s Charity ‘Exploring Ways’ to Aid Hurricane-Stricken Bahamas

*Rihanna, Cardi B, Rick Ross and Pharrell Williams are among the celebrities to show support to the Bahamas after the country was hit by a Category 5 storm over the weekend.

As we previously reported… Hurricane Dorian brought “extreme destruction” and numerous casualties to the Bahamas – including a seven-year-old boy. The Bahamian government also highlighted chilling reports of bodies floating in the wreckage.

Rihanna tweeted several messages in wake of the deadly storm, announcing her the nonprofit, the Clara Lionel Foundation, was exploring the ways it could provide aid to the island, Complex reports. 

“It truly breaks my heart to see the complete devastation that Hurricane Dorian is having on the Bahamas,” she wrote, adding “You are in our prayers.”

The prime minister of the Bahamas Hubert Minnis confirmed reports that there have been at least five storm-related deaths in the days since Dorian hit.

“We are in the midst of a historic tragedy,” Minnis said in a press conference, according to the New York Times.

“Our focus is search, rescue and recovery. I ask for your prayers for those in affected areas and for our first responders […] Many homes, businesses and other buildings have been completed or partially destroyed.”

Actress Reese Witherspoon called the damage “beyond devastating” and said she was “praying for my friends and families in Bahamas.”

Pharrell took to Twitter to write: “We’re praying for our beautiful Bahaman brothers and sisters, their culture, their land which is all still being hit by #HurricaneDorian.”

Rapper Yung Blue added, “My prayers go out to the Bahamas ! Had 2 back to back shows there just sum months ago and they some of the coolest people on earth ! My prayers go out to the islands.”

Pharoahe Monch tweeted: “A friend just told me the water levels are so high in Freeport that there’s a shark in the living room of one of their family members. Praying for everyone in the Bahamas. #HurricaneDorain.”
