*On Sunday, August 25, 2019 grudge racer phenom, Al “Boogie” Roberson penned as the ‘fastest handicap man on the planet’ by pundits of the sport did it again on 315 Radial Tires in the heat of the day at Darlington Dragway, 1301 Harry Byrd Hwy, Darlington, South Carolina. The private testing with Al Boogie at the helm of his legendary beast of a car, “Honcho” with huge horsepower fueled with high quantities of nitrous oxide in its engine made history!
Roberson is one of the most celebrated ‘handicap’ drivers in the grudge racing sports with having only the use of one arm.
“We have never seen anything like this,” says Russell Miller, owner of Darlington Dragway. “Al always comes with his ‘A’ game and yesterday’s testing was nothing short of pure adrenaline and perfection. Nothing says that being handicap will limit you, and Al Boogie is the real deal,” adds Miller.
Attending with Al Boogie at the private test session were some of the most respected racers and professionals in the racing industry including: Stevie ‘Fast’ Jackson, known as one of the world’s greatest nitrous tuners, Professional Drag Racer Association champion Jay Cox, Tony Wilson of PDRA, Jeff Miller, known for his world-renowned car, ‘Bumblebee,’ superstar grudge racers, The Swanstroms (Country Boys, Big Country & Lil’ Country) and popular racers, the McCain brothers, known as Team Bowser.
Al Boogie and Jeff ‘Bumblebee’ Miller broke the internet record hitting over 10,000 views on their respective social media sites within hours of posting the private testing, an unprecedented occurrence that has never happened in drag racing!
