Michael Jackson’s Estate Says Ex-manager Can Not Use Late Singer’s Image for Foundation

Raymone Bain, Michael Jackson's former publicist

*Michael Jackson‘s estate is shutting down his former manager after she announced the formation of a foundation in the pop star’s name.

Raymone Bain held a press conference on Thursday where she announced the establishment of the MJ Legacy Foundation to “preserve, protect and defend his name while supporting the numerous organizations he supported during his life.”

But Jackson’s estate said in a statement to USA TODAY that Bain is “not authorized to act on behalf of the Michael Jackson Estate nor to use Michael Jackson’s name in any way for charitable or her own commercial purposes.”

The statement did not directly address Jackson’s will, which Bain claims is lost.

A spokesperson for the MJ estate also shared with The Blast, “Raymone Bain is not authorized to act on behalf of the Michael Jackson Estate nor to use Michael Jackson’s name in any way for charitable or her own commercial purposes. We do agree with her comments about ‘Leaving Neverland’ and her encouraging a boycott of HBO over its inexcusable disparagement of Michael Jackson’s character.”

The reference to “Leaving Neverland” comes after Bain defended Jackson from the allegations leveled in the documentary by Wade Robson and James Safechuck and argued that Jackson “has been a victim since his death, over and over again, and it’s time to stop.”

Sources close to Bain say she “failed as Michael Jackson’s manager” and was eventually sacked from the job in 2007.

Bain sued Jackson in 2009 for $44 million and then his estate after he passed for over $50 million. She did not prevail in either lawsuit.

During her presser, she discussed Jackson’s friendship with Donald Trump and claimed she “would love to be able to ask the president to help me find Michael Jackson’s 2006 will.”

“Michael considered him a very close friend, and he said to me on many occasions that Mr. Trump was one of the few people who never turned his back on him, and who was there to help him during his trial,” she said.
