Funk Flex Calls Out Jermaine Dupri for ‘Backpedal’ on NFL Conversation with JAY-Z [VIDEO]

*Jermaine Dupri is finally addressing reports that JAY-Z  told him to turn down an NFL deal similar to the one the rapper recently inked with the league.

EUR previously reported on Grammy-winning songwriter Bryan Michael Cox’s claim that JAY personally phoned Dupri less than a year ago and advised him to turn down a similar deal to the one he recently inked with the NFL.

Dupri caught a lot of heat from Colin Kaepernick supporters when he hosted a series of concerts in Atlanta leading up the Super Bowl this year. Jay-Z had reportedly reached out to artists to ask them not to support the NFL because of Kaepernick being blackballed due to his kneeling protests. JD was called a “trader” for his “support” of Super Bowl Weekend.

“I’m not saying that it can’t turn into some good shit,” Cox said of JAY’S NFL partnership. “We’re also talking about a guy who single-handedly picked up the phone and called Jermaine to tell him not to do it…. When we all had that meeting with the NFL, all that sh*t was part of the same sh*t.

DJ Funk Flex said earlier this week that he spoke with Dupri who allegedly confirmed Cox’s revelation that such a conversation occurred with Jay.

“I just got off the phone with Jermaine Dupri,” Flex shared in an Instagram post. “He confirmed that when he was working with the NFL last year he did get a call from Jay-Z asking him…’How deep are you in with the NFL?’ expressing …’That might not be a good idea.’”

Speaking on Atlanta’s V-103 radio station, JD responded to Flex’s post by saying: “I’m letting the people know, he and I never had a conversation where he told me ‘don’t do what you’re doing,’” he said. “What our conversation was: ‘You know what side I’m on. I understand what you’re doing.’ That’s what the conversation was.”

Dupri said he initially thought remaining silent would mute the issue but noted: “When it starts to affect people within your circle, because you don’t say nothing, you gotta say something.”

Meanwhile, Funk Flex took to Instagram to suggest JD is flipping the script on the conversation they had due to pressure from the league and Roc Nation.

The Hot 97 DJ wrote, “ahahah! I love you Jermoaine for life! NFL / ROCNATION applying that pressure for YOU to backpedal! (Body Language is everything) ITS WEDNESDAY BRUH? THIS HAPPENED MONDAY? (I finally understand what Kap / Nessa been Experiencing!).”
