*A suspected white supremacist from North Carolina turned himself in to police Sunday morning and admitted that the had just killed his 15-year-old daughter.
Joshua Lee Burgess, 32, reportedly entered the Union County Sheriff’s Office and told a dispatcher “he was there to turn himself in” because “he had just killed someone,” the release says.
That someone was his 15-year-old biracial daughter, Zaria Burgess.
Deputies found the teen dead inside the home, PEOPLE reports. Burgess was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled to return to court next month.
During a preliminary hearing on Monday, the court learned Burgess strangled his daughter before slitting her throat, local station WSOC reports.

Details about his alleged motive have not been revealed.
The teen was reportedly visiting her father at his Union County home over the weekend when the murder took place. Her family is devastated by the tragedy.
“I think this was as much of a shock to [Zaria’s mother] as it has been to anyone who knows the victim, that it was just out of the blue,” a spokesman for the Union County Sheriff’s Office told the Daily News. “And nobody saw this coming.”
Zaria’s cousin, Dytaysha Wadsworth, told WSCO, “She was the type of kid to come in a room come or in a house and say, ‘Hey everybody’ — just wanting to make everybody smile.”
Adding, “She was so young and nobody deserves to leave this world like that, especially by someone they thought was gonna protect them and be there for them.”
Zaria “lived primarily with her mother” and visited her father “on a routine basis on weekends.”
In the days leading up to her death, the Daily News reports that Burgess made multiple Facebook posts about the alleged suicide of Jeffrey Epstein, including one urging men with mental illnesses to speak out.
