*It’s countdown time to the Reel Black Men Short Film Festival on August 17th 2019 at the Pacific Design Center at 8687 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, CA.

Thanks to Sandra Evers Manly and the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center, this festival is enjoying it’s 22nd year of films that are written, produced and/or directed by Black men. This weekend Night Diner will join the line up.

It’s a 9:00 minute film written and directed by Khaled Ridgeway.  In the film a yelper gets more than he bargains for when he crashes a 5 Star dinner after hours. Night Diner is produced by Lareina J. Wong & K. Ridgeway, Executive Produced by Datari Turner and features Yves Beneche, Tisha Terrasini Banker and Paul Mischeshin.

Battered (6:26 Min.) by Larry Ulrich is a short film that is featured Aug. 17th 2019 at BHERC’s Reel Black Men Short Film Fest. For info visit: BHERC.org

Also showing at the Reel Black Men festival on August 17th is Battered (6:26 Min.) by Larry Ulrich.  The film asks the question; “How does one survive an abusive relationship?”  It is written and directed by Larry Ulrich and features Nick Carthan, Larry Ulrich and Shahidah Walker.

Domestic violence and the me-too movement has opened discussions that were once taboo. When the roles are reversed, how can one publicly report violence without the fear of being shamed or deemed less than masculine.  Q&A sessions will be hosted by actor/producer/director Ted Lange and the evening is rounded out with a delicious soul food buffet.

Tickets are still available for Reel Black Men and can be purchased at www.bherc.org or at the door for $25. For further event information, contact John Forbes at 310.284.3170 [email protected] or visit the official website at www.BHERC.org.
