*The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) is gearing up for another round of artistic expression that celebrates the Black male point of view on film.
The “Reel Black Men” Short Film Festival happens Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 7:00 pm at The Pacific Design Center’s Silver Screen Theater located at 8687 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, CA.
Two of the films featured will be ASIA A (20:15 Min.) by Andrew Reid. In the film, a recent spinal cord injury patient struggles to reconcile his sense of self-worth with his new reality as a paraplegic. ASIA A is directed by Andrew Reid, written by Andrew Reid and Roberto Saieh and stars Pruitt Taylor Vince, London Brown and Paulina Bugembe. ASIA A was a Semi-Finalist for the 45th Student Academy Awards and has screened at numerous festivals.
Also showing at the “Reel Black Men” film fest is C’EST PARFAIT (17:42 Min.) written and directed by Muhasani Kasomo. ‘C’est Parfait’ depicts an Immigrant family’s journey where an African family is reunited in America, but they’re soon broken apart when a family member is kidnapped. C’est Parfait stars Morgan Dixon, David Dorward and Elester Latham. Actor/Director Ted Lange will host a Q&A and a reception will follow.
