R&B singer R. Kelly leaves the Leighton Criminal Courts Building following a hearing on June 26, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois.

*R. Kelly appeared in a New York City on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges.

Despite his attorneys arguing for Kelly’s release so he can better prepare for trial, the R&B singer’s bail was denied.

The disgraced artist remains on trial in his home city, where his attorneys also seek his release.

Kelly’s girlfriends Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary supported him alongside two other family members during his Brooklyn court appearance on August 2.

R. Kelly was transported from Chicago to the Metropolitan Correctional Center in NYC on Thursday. He has remained behind bars since his arrest in his hometown last month on 18 federal charges.

As we previously reported, R. Kelly is accused of recruiting women and underage girls at his concerts on the east coast “to engage in illegal sexual activity,” as well as intentionally exposing a woman to an STD.

New York prosecutors allege he had unprotected sex with one victim in 2017 without telling her “he had contracted an infectious venereal disease” — a violation of New York law. Complex writes that Kellz “was also accused of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of women and girls across state lines for the purpose of prostitution or any other immoral purpose.”

In the Illinois case, prosecutors claim Kelly videotaped himself having sex with at least four underage girls. He is scheduled to reappear in a Chicago court on Sept. 4 for a status hearing.

Lawyers for Kelly claim the alleged victims “sought out Robert’s attention, even fought each other for it, voluntarily contacted him, came to his shows, pined to be with him,” the defense papers say. “Robert would spend his time and even become friends with and care about these groupies and fans who were dying to be with him.”
