*Maybe if what happened to a 65-year-old white woman goes down enough times and “they” see it, maybe some attitudes with start changing about police brutality.
Admittedly what happened to Debra Hamil might not totally qualify as police brutality, it is hard to watch a cop tase a 65-year-old woman, even though she did everything she could to ask for it.
It appears Hamil didn’t have to be tasered, but her white privilege seems to have gotten the best of her when she refused several times to sign an $80 ticket for having a broken tail light, reports Inside Edition.
In their exchange captured on bodycam footage, Hamil tells the cop she didn’t want to sign “because I don’t think that I deserve to pay $80 for something that is fixable and I can fix it.”
The officer then asks her to step out of the car and tells her she is under arrest. In turn, Hamil refuses to get out, rolling up the window and channeled Donald Trump by telling the cop, “You be fair with me and I’ll be fair with you.”

As tensions rise, the woman offers to sign the ticket. “Shut up and give me that and I’ll sign it,” she says.
But it was too late. The cop insists that she get out of her truck, but Hamil takes off.
Watch as the cop chases her and when he catches up to her, he approaches with his gun drawn.
When she again refuses to get out of her vehicle, he pulls her out and struggles to handcuff her. As she continues to resist, he deploys his Taser.
Moaning, the woman tells the cop that he didn’t have to do that.
“You wouldn’t comply, you wouldn’t get out. And then you tried to kick me so yes, I did,” the cop answers.
“I tried to kick you ’cause I’m a country girl,” she counters.
Meanwhile, Inside Edition spoke to security expert and former police officer Steve Kardian about what happened. He said it’s definitely not a good look, but it was lawful.
“She should have just signed the summons and be on her way.”
