Join ‘REEL BLACK MEN’ Filmmakers Aug.17 at LA’s Pacific Design Center

*The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center proudly presents another installment of the “Reel Black Men” Film Festival.

On Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 7:00 pm host Ted Lange will introduce eight extraordinary films and filmmakers and EURweb will give highlights of each one leading up to the fest.

First up, we’re happy to inform you about Fifty & Over Club (23:39 Min.) by Don’re Walker, C. G. Ryche (Director); Patricia Forte`& Don`re Walker (Writers).

In 1970, Tony (Tripp Law) and Lawson (Steven Williams) opened Benny’s Bar, a club were boys could be boys. Now late into their 50’s, Tony & Lawson still have the club and get together regularly. Henrietta Hartshorn, Thomas Santiago, Karen Harris, Derek Thompson, Tripp Law, C. G. Ryche are the producers and Patricia McNeal is Executive Producer.

Also showing at “Reel Black Men Short Film Fest” is THE BARE KNUCKLE GENTLEMEN (19:11 Min.) by Nishad Chaughule.  In the story former slave and retired boxer, Bill “The Black Terror” Richmond lobbies for a rematch fight between his protégé, Tom “The Moor” Molineaux and the undisputed British champion, Tom Cribb.  The Bare Knuckle Gentlemen is written by Nishad Chaughule, written by Rebecca Usoro and stars Doctor Hayes, Bradford Barnes and Christopher Neiman.

Nishad Chaughule is a Student Academy and a Royal Television Society Award winning filmmaker. Nishad grew up in India loving films and moved to England to study filmmaking. Hemade several short films including the acclaimed, Border Patrol during his time there, which have won numerous awards and have been shown at various film festivals across the world.

After working in the British film industry he moved back to India to work in the film industry there. Soon after, Nishad moved to LA. Nishad has been working as a junior coordinator in the Story and Development at Amblin Partners. Currently, Nishad works as a writers’ assistant on the George RR Martin TV show called Wild Cards on HULU. Apart from storytelling Nishad is a huge history buff and a big fan of Billiards & Snooker.

The Black Hollywood Education & Resource Center’s “REEL BLACK MEN SHORT FILM FEST” will be held at the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90069 on August 17th 2019 at 7:00  PM.  This screening and dialog is an opportunity for emerging African American male filmmakers to showcase their skills, talent and vision through film screenings, while giving the audience a chance to view and discuss the artistry, passion and sacrifice involved in the independent filmmaking process.
