*(Hollywood, CA) The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) proudly announces that Award-winning actor/writer/director Ted Lange is hosting REEL BLACK MEN, a short film showcase featuring the artistry of emerging African American Male Filmmakers, August 17, 2019, at The Pacific Design Center located at 8687 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90069.
BHERC is presenting seven short films, a Talk Back with directors, producers, cast and crew and concluding the evening with a Reception and Networking.
Ted Lange, as a star of the television classic THE LOVE BOAT, Lange’s ten seasons as Isaac Washington earned him global recognition and he certainly exemplifies the Renaissance Man. As a Director, Lange has directed approximately 24 film or television productions, over 56 theatrical productions, and 2 radio shows. A graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Lange has written over 25 plays, 12 feature films, and a TV Series, and has been labeled The Black Neil Simon, The Brown Bard, and The Footnote Historian.Â
An award-winning theatrical director, Lange received the Artistic Director Achievement Award, as Director of an Original Play for his comedy Lemon Meringue Facade and the Dramalogue Award for outstanding directing of The Visit, which was later turned into a film. Lange also received the Oakland Ensemble Theatre’s Paul Robeson Award and the James Cagney Directing Fellow Scholarship Award from the American Film Institute. When asked about the diversity of his career, Lange states, “The duty of the Artist is to find his muse, then let her rip.”

Barrois; and FIFTY & OVER CLUB (23:39 min.) by Don’re Walker and C. G. Ryche (Director).
This screening and dialog is an opportunity for emerging African American male filmmakers to showcase their skills, talent and vision through film screenings, while giving the audience a chance to view and discuss the artistry, passion and sacrifice involved in the independent filmmaking process.
