*According to R. Kelly’s attorney Nicole Blank Becker, the embattled singer is content with being held in solitary confinement, as he fears his life would be in danger in general population.
Becker informed TMZ that her client is fearful of retaliation from inmates over the alleged sex crimes which have landed him behind bars, via Complex.
A judge ruled Tuesday that Kelly will remain in jail without bond as he faces a slew of federal sex crime charges. Prosecutors argued that he is a flight risk and an “extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls.”

Prosecutors also noted that house arrest wasn’t an option because “The defendant can entice girls to his own doorstep, he doesn’t have to leave his home to do that.”
Becker says Kelly’s solitary confinement comes with a few limitations, such as a phone privileges for only 15 minutes a month to speak with his family and friends, as opposed to inmates in gen pop who are given much more phone time.
Kelly’s inability to read and write also poses challenges when it comes to buying items from the commissary list, the report states.
R. Kelly is facing 18 counts for various sex crimes against 10 victims. He was arrested last week in Chicago on a 13-count indictment which includes charges of child pornography, enticement of a minor, sex trafficking and obstruction of justice.
