*Taye Diggs says he still stands behind disgraced actor Jussie Smollett and they’re trying to find a project they can work on together.
Diggs had a recurring role on Season 3 of “Empire,” and in an interview with ‘Extra,” he said, “He’s my boy and I will always be in support of him and that’s that.” He went on, “It’s a very interesting time today. All I know is that you need to be a friend, and a friend isn’t a friend only when things are great, that isn’t what a friend is, that’s a fan.”
Smollett has been maintaining a low profile since being accused of staging a hate crime on himself. He has denied any involvement in the alleged attack.

“We’ve been texting,” Taye says. “We are trying to find something we can work on together because people have no idea how talented that boy is, young man… so selfishly I want to get some of that, so we got to figure that out.”
Diggs chopped it up with in NYC with “Extra” just before presenting a $100,000 check to AdoptAClassroom.org.
The donation was actually made by Burlington Stores through their partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org to the six school districts in Manhattan for school supplies.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today if it were not for these educators, so I feel for them, and it’s nice to be in a position to help.”
Taye also shared that he’s dating someone new, “I just started seeing someone that I’m into so I’m pretty hyped about that.” He said with a smile, “I probably shouldn’t have said that. Hey, you heard it first.”
Meanwhile, FOX previously announced that the upcoming sixth season of “Empire” will be the end for the music drama. There won’t be a seventh season of what was once the network’s biggest series.
