*Quentin Tarantino and comedian Jerrod Carmichael are teaming for a film adaptation of a Django/Zorro crossover film, based on the comic book by the same name.
Dynamite Entertainment previously issued a press release announcing that Django will return in comic book form later this year. In the series, co-written by Tarantino, the story takes place several years after the events in the 2012 film “Django Unchained.” After finding a safe place for his wife Broomhilda to settle near Chicago, Django continues his work as a bounty hunter, Collider reports.
Along the way, he teams-up with an “aged and sophisticated” Zorro and the dynamic duo set out on a mission to free the local indigenous folks from slavery. The crossover will be written by Reginald Hudlin and Matt Wanger with Carmichael and Tarantino on board as co-writers.

“I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt. It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together,” said Tarantino. “And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters.”
It’s currently unknown whether Tarantino will direct the project or serve as executive producer.
“The comic series Django/Zorro is headed to the big screen, courtesy of #QuentinTarantino & Jerrod Carmichael. Carmichael has been tapped to write the script, but it’s unclear if Tarantino will co-write and direct the potential movie.”

As noted by Complex via Collider, Tarantino and Sony chief Tom Rothman were overheard dishing about the project during the Cannes Film Festival and a spy told the outlet that they suggested that the film was “moving forward and that Rothman was excited about its direction.”
“After doing Django I knew I didn’t want to do any Django movie sequels or anything, but I liked the idea of there being several paperbacks that could be the further adventures of Django or maybe go back in time,” Tarantino previously said.
