*Janet Jackson has stunned fans by revealing she and music icon Stevie Wonder are third cousins!
Jackson dropped the bombshell during an interview with a BBC reporter.
“People don’t know this one. Stevie [Wonder] is actually our cousin- on my mother’s side. We don’t talk about this…[but] yeah he is,” she said via ILOSM.
When the radio host expressed disbelief, asking Janet if anyone else knew that the two legends were related, Jackson replied: “I’m the only one in the family that started talking about it just maybe, a couple years ago. He is really my cousin.”

This is not the first time Jackson has mentioned her blood relation to Wonder. During the 2011 NAACP Awards, she mentioned Stevie being her cousin while on stage recognizing his legacy and contribution to music.
“It is with great respect that we induct my cousin, Stevie wonder into the NAACP Hall of Fame,” she says at the 3:28 mark of the clip below — watch:
In related news, Janet kicks off her “Metamorphosis” residency this weekend, Friday, Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with additional performances through May 26, at Park Theater at Park MGM.
“Metamorphosis peels back the layers of the immensely private life of Janet Jackson, sharing her transformation from a young girl with issues of self-esteem to global Icon,” reads the description of the show, which will set up at the Park Theater at the Park MGM resort beginning May 17.
“The centerpiece of this all new thought-provoking show, will be Janet herself, captivating you through your senses with electrifying visuals, explosive dance numbers, chart-topping hits and fan favorite deep cuts,” the description continues. “The show also features a special 30-year anniversary celebration of her ground-breaking album Rhythm Nation. Fans will follow her path to self-love, empowerment, motherhood and activism, amidst the challenges faced along her personal journey. She encourages her audiences to find their own light within themselves through her Metamorphosis.”
Jackson’ Metamorphosis residency is currently slated to run through Aug. 10. Below are the dates:
