White Mississippi Officer Charged with Fatally Shooting His Black Mistress While She Was Sleep

*A north Mississippi police officer has been charged with murder in the death of a Black mother of four with whom he was romantically involved.

Oxford Police Officer Matthew Kinne was arrested Monday by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation after 32-year-old Dominque Clayton was found dead on Sunday. The victim’s sister, Shyjuan Clayton, tells WHBQ-TV that Clayton and Kinne were in a relationship, KCII.com reports.

A bit of backstory on Clayton, she often ignited fury across social media for heaping nothing but praise for white male cops on her Facebook page. She even mocked Black folks who were the victims of police brutality (see the Twitter embed below).

Clayton’s sister claims the victim was having an affair with her killer. There’s also conflicting reports on whether or not Dominique spilled the tea about the affair to the officer’s wife.

“She was having an affair with Matt, the police officer with OPD,” Shyjuan explained. “(He was) real possessive and stalking her… kept sneaking in her house I guess he did this so he wouldn’t have to tell the wife.”

“He bought my sister a car and kept it in his name,” she continued. “He was about to get her a house. He just basically didn’t want his wife to find out.”

“I feel like it was unnecessary,” she added. “My sister didn’t deserve to have this done to her. My sister has four kids. Her kids have to grow up without a mom.”

According to WHBQ-TV, Clayton was found shot in the back of her head by her 8-year-old son after he was dropped at home Sunday by a family member. She was reportedly sleep when she was shot.

“It broke us because my sister was the life of the party, she made us laugh,” Shyjuan told WHBQ. “My sister was crazy and silly. It won’t be the same without her.

Kinne, an Oxford officer of four years, was reportedly not in performance of official duties as a law enforcement officer at the time of the alleged murder,” said Lafayette County Circuit Judge Andrew Howorth.

He is currently jailed in Panola County.

“We don’t want anybody to cover it up. We want the truth out. We want justice for my sister,” Shyjuan Clayton told reporters Tuesday.

Interim Oxford Police Chief Jeff McCutcheon told WREG the investigation will be independent and unbiased.

“We want to assure you that we will not hide behind our badge,” McCutchen said. “Our hearts go out to the family of Dominique Clayton. To the family, we thank you for your patience and your trust in us to see this through.”
