*“Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is under fire for comparing South Africa’s Julius Malema, leader of the  Economic Freedom Fighters, with Donald Trump.

“South Africa also has a popular anti-establishment politician in this election. His name is Julius Malema and if you think Trump is bad, wait until you see how Julius treats the media,” said Noah in a clip shared on social media.

Malema is reportedly all about white genocide, and Noah showed clips of his treatment of journalists in relation to Trump and his “fake news” propaganda.

“If you are one of those people thinking right now, ‘You know what, Trevor, this doesn’t seem too extreme. He just hates the press.’ Well, you might want to buckle up for this one,” Noah said on his show. Several clips were then played to illustrate Malema’s political opposition, including one that was allegedly doctored to show that he had “not called for the killing of white people. At least for now. I cannot guarantee the future.”

Noah further said, “He (Malema) speaks about genocide like he’s talking about remodeling his kitchen.” Malema and his party have been vocal about land repatriation, causing President Donald Trump to tweet the following on 22 August 2018: “I have asked Secretary Pompeo to closely study the South African land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers. South Africa is now seizing land from farmers.”

The video was published on “The Daily Show’s” Twitter account but was later deleted after several South African social media users expressed their outrage at Noah.

Referring to Malema as a white genocidaire serves to reinforce Trump’s statement about the killing of white farmers. In fact, in the edited video that Noah referenced, Malema raised the question of blacks also being killed on farms in South Africa and everyone turning a deaf ear.

Many Twitter users co-signed with @NkosiyedwaSam who wrote: “The issue is not fact that Julius Malema said those things, it is that Trevor Noah & his team took comments out of context, claimed that Malema was worse than Trump, and ignored Malema’s progressive comments. Take the whole man, not just your hot take.”

EFF Deputy president Floyd Shivambu noted that “Americans are historically known for puppeteering black people, and this one has fallen right into their doings. He’s a clown, and doesn’t deserve to be dignified. Genocide in SA? He must be called Trevor Missing, the puppet of the establishment!”
