*Steve Harvey says he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life now that his syndicated daytime talk show has been canceled by NBC after seven years.

According to Variety, the network is bumping “Steve” for Kelly Clarkson’s new hour-long talk show that is set to debut in September.

“Seven years coming to a close. This is good though, man. You gotta understand how it works. Your life ain’t nothing but a book. I happen to be 62 years old. I am in the middle of my 62nd chapter of the book that I’m writing,” he told the studio audience. “There are some good books in there, too, there are some good chapters and some bad chapters. And some chapters that lasted a little bit longer than I wanted to … But in this 62nd chapter, I got my finger on the corner of the page. All I’m doing is I’m about to turn it. I can’t wait to see what God’s got for me on that other page.”

Harvey spoke about his show’s future and possible cancellation in January, saying NBC should have given him a heads up about the Clarkson takeover.

“I’m an honorable guy, and I’m just an old school guy, and I just thought that you’re supposed to talk to people and go, ‘Look, you’ve been good business for us. This is what we’re thinking of doing. Are you okay with that?’ No, you don’t just put something in the paper and say, ‘I’m gonna make this move right here’ because it’s crazy,” he said. “You look at the numbers on my show and it’s No. 4 in daytime television — it’s holding right there. I got a hit, so somebody’s gonna recognize that.”

Meanwhile, Variety’s Cynthia Littleton hit up Twitter to report how NBC felt Harvey “had too many outside obligations” to maintain his hosting jobs with the network.

The publication also noted that Harvey will continue as host of “Family Feud,” and he is reportedly in demand as an emcee for numerous specials including the annual Miss Universe pageant and Fox’s “New Year’s Eve with Steve Harvey: Live From Times Square.”
