*Los Angeles, CA — It’s 2019! Cheers to another year of honoring all mamas around the world as Mother’s Day inches near, and of course, VH1’s “Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Mom,” has set the stage for all the celebrating to begin.
This year, Ashanti, Monica, April Ryan, Ciara, LaLa Anthony, Anthony Anderson and others, were proud to have their mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters right by their side.
EUR’s Robin Ayers took to the pink carpet to talk love, life, and motherhood. As you could’ve guessed, funny man, actor and host of the evening, Anthony Anderson and his mom Ms. Doris, did not disappoint with their storytelling.
Ms. Doris recalls an incident from Anthony’s childhood.
“Anthony was really smart when he was young. He was conniving. He went in my purse and ordered a baby Grand piano off my credit card, and they delivered it!”
“I got tied to the avocado tree in the backyard and was disciplined,” says Anthony. “But I learned how to play the piano.”

Executive producer of VH1’s Dear Mama, Jesse Collins, says thanks to Queen Latifah and her business partner, Shakim, who came up with this idea, they’ve all built this great show.
“It’s great to see artists go out and celebrate the woman that made it all happen for them, that brought them into this world,” Collins says.
R&B songstress Ashanti and actress LaLa Anthony also pay strong tributes to their own mothers, noting the important roles they’ve played and contribute much of their success to their moms.
Social media influencer turned reality TV star, B. Simone, gives her love to both her mom and grandmother, saying:
“You know grandparents spoil you and give you that extra love, tender love and care. I had a great upbringing.”
Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Mom airs on VH1, Monday, May 6, 2019 at 10/9c, with appearances by H.E.R., Monica, Ciara, Luke James and many more. The evening will be co-hosted by LaLa Anthony and Anthony Anderson and is sure to showcase beautiful love and women empowerment.
