Black College Student Slapped with 12-year Prison Sentence for Kissing a White Girl!

*The curious case of Albert N. Wilson, a former University of Kansas student, has been sparking conversation across social media for several weeks now.

Wilson was sentenced last month to 12 years in prison and a lifetime of probation after being convicted by an all-white jury of raping a white teen girl. But he says they only kissed and engaged in other sex acts but never had intercourse.

The alleged rape occurred in September 2016. Wilson, who was 20 at the time, met the then-17-year-old girl at popular college spot, Jayhawk Cafe. Wilson reportedly used a friend’s ID to get into the bar, the young woman was in town visiting her cousin, who attended KU, and they were not carded.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Wilson’s DNA was found on the girl’s chest through his saliva when he kissed her there. No DNA from seminal fluid was found. Swabs were collected from the girl after she went to a local hospital the day after the incident. Photos of her inner thigh also showed bruises in the area.

Wilson, who is 23-year-old now, had no criminal record prior to this incident and during the trial, the testified that the police seemed to be against him at that time because of his race.

“I don’t know how to explain this, but I come from a different background than you, ma’am,” said Wilson to Judge Sally Pokorny. “…I just felt like the police [were] against me at that point.”

Surveillance video reportedly confirms that Wilson and the young woman were only at his place for five minutes before returning to the bar.

Forrest Lowry, Wilson’s court-appointed lawyer, said during the trial: “It was a chance meeting. Obviously, my client misread what was going on. If there was ever a case that deserved a departure of any kind, I think this is it.”

After a 6-hour deliberation, the jury convicted Wilson of rape and gave him “lowest end of what’s called for by Kansas sentencing guidelines for rape.” Not only did he receive a what many believe is a harsh sentence, he’s also now a registered sex offender

Wilson supporters created a website called Free Albert Wilson which seeks to find out the truth about what really went down that night because the surveillance video doesn’t match the alleged victim’s story.
