*On Wednesday, May 1, the ladies of The Real discuss Oprah Winfrey’s revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter where she spoke about how she was told she had too much “emotion in her name” while working at 60 Minutes.

Co-host Loni Love feels strongly that Empire should let Jussie Smollett keep his job and explains why, and her co-hosts weigh in with their thoughts. And Pope Francis feels that hairdressers should do a lot less gossiping, but not everyone agrees!

Later Countess Luann De Lesseps visits to talk about The Real Housewives of New York, and her “Countess and Friends” Cabaret Show. She also reveals what it was really like to kiss Hugh Grant!

Loni Feels That If She Were In Jussie Smollett’s Place, She Should Be Allowed To Keep Her Job

Loni Love: First of all, I don’t think it’s a surprise; when I talked to him, he kind of knew this was happening. So this is not a surprise. But he does have fans that went onto Lee Daniels’ Instagram and they were like, “Hey, without Jussie, it’s not gonna be the same,” so, you know… he is getting some support.

Jeannie Mai: But to me the more interesting part of the news, and tell me how to explain this, but the contract that he has – he’s off the show, but they still picked up his option. Which means that they’ll still have him on the sidelines, which makes me feel that depending on how this turns out with this civil case, or with this next court case that he has, that they got him on the sidelines, just with a little hand on the back of his neck like, “If you good out there, then you gonna be good when we have you back on here. But if you not, then we’re gonna go ahead and be safe by not having you on the show.” That’s the part that feels weird.

Adrienne Houghton: That’s whack. I don’t like it.

Loni: But the criminal charges have been dropped. That’s it. That’s the civil case. The actual criminal case has been dropped. And, you know, that’s like if you – I’ll use myself as an example. If my case had been dropped, I’d want to keep my job. You know?

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni: I should be allowed to keep my job.

Tamera Mowry-Housley: My thing is, I think the whole case has just been a ball of confusion so my concern is I just want them to figure it out, for the sake of his mind, his life and his career. That’s more important. Figure that out first.
