*The last time Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott blessed us with her signature sound was in 2005 with The Cookbook. The album that featured the hypnotic dance track “Lose Control.”

Since then, Missy has been low-key, popping up now and then on social media, in commercials and hitting the Super Bowl halftime stage. She also released solo singles such as “WTF (Where They From)” with Pharrell Williams, “Pep Rally,” and was recently featured on Lizzo’s new song “Tempo.”

On Wednesday, Missy resurfaced on Instagram, and this time to tease that new music is on the way after she recently finished work on a “big project.”

“I just finished a long project I been working on since last year & this my mood ‘Keep On Movin’ I’m bout to show yall I’m on some next ish,” she wrote.

The post also featured a clip of her dancing to Soul II Soul’s “Keep It Moving” — see the clip above.

On Twitter, Missy added: “It has been a very intense no sleep 5 weeks working on this since last year. I been sick on and off from weather change and this pollen has been kicking my ass but it will be all worth it! I’m excited.”

Last year, Elliott became the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In related news, back in November, she stunned fans by revealing the backwards hook on her hit single “Work It” actually came about due to an error from her studio engineer, NME reported.

“The engineer happened to hit something, and [the hook] just went backward, and I was like, ‘Oh that’s kind of crazy’ because it went backward on the beat,” she recalled.
