Ringside Update/Vasyl Lomanchenko: A Gentle Giant In The Lightweight Division

*Now there’s probably no doubt some of you out there who are asking who is this guy and why am I writing about him? Well folks, let me tell you something this guy right now is considered to be one of the most dangerous fighters in the lightweight division and is set to launch himself to the very top of it. There’s only two fighters in that division that could possibly be in his way and they are Gervonte Davis and Mikey Garcia.

Let me start off by going into a little of his background. He hails out of the former Soviet Republic of Ukraine and at only 31 of age with only 14 professional fights to date, he is now the unified lightweight champion holding the WBO, WBA, and Ring magazine titles.

He’s had more experience as an amateur than Carter has liver pills, with a total of 397 fights with 1 loss before turning pro. And since he’s entered the big stage of boxing he’s gone against some of the best guys in the sport like Orlando Salida, Guillermo Rigondeaux, and Gary Russell Jr., (just to name few) and he beat everyone of them impressively. And in case you missed last Friday nights performance at the Staples Center, he knocked out Anthony Crolla of the UK in the fourth in front of a sold out crowd.

Now if you asked me, I’ll tell you he might walk through Mikey Garcia. But Gervonte Davis on the other hand is not going to be a walk in the park as this kid who hails out of Baltimore, Maryland ain’t nobody to be played with either. And if smart boxing minds could come together and work out any and all the issues that may plague this fight from happening we could possibly see one of the greatest fights since Robinson vs Fulmer(no kidding).

As I always say, we’ll see what happens.

In other boxing news, Terrance Crawford is set to go against Amir Khan this coming weekend in New York at the Garden and will be telecast live on ESPN pay per view by Top Rank Inc., in association with Matchroom Boxing and Khan Promotions.

And on the same night folks in what could be an exciting event out in Carson, Calif., Danny Garcia goes against Adrian Granados in an event telecast live on Fox so stay tuned folks.
