Activists to Protest Arrest of Man Shot with Nipsey Hussle for Associating with the Rapper

*Civil rights activist Najee Ali, director of Project Islamic Hope, calls for Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Secretary Ralph Diaz and California Governor Gavin Newsom to order the immediate release of Kerry Lathan, who was shot along side of  Nipsey Hussle.

Hussle was gathering clothes at his store for Lathan, 56, who was released from prison after serving 20 years.

Lathan was arrested by California Parole officers for violating terms of his parole for associating with a known gang member: Nipsey Hussle.

“Our community  continues to celebrate Nipsey’s life and legacy and  the marathon must continue as he would want so with that said the protest against this type of legal lynching against Kerry  must be apart of the marathon race for social justice,” said Ali, who added:

“(CDCR) Secretary Ralph Diaz and California Governor Gavin Newsom should order the  immediate release of Kerry Lathan. His arrest sends a horrible message to parolees trying to integrate into society and for CDRC officials to label Hussle  who was a Grammy nominated artist entrepreneur, gentrification fighter and philanthropist as a  known gang member is a slap in the face to his family and our grieving community.”
