*Shane Paul McGhie is a Los Angeles native who is one of the newest faces on features films and television. McGhie shared with EURweb host Rocky Harris how he got his latest role as “Landon,” his thoughts on black films and TV shows and his future projects. The 25-year-old plays “Landon” in the romance-drama “After,” an original novel by Anna Todd.

The film portrays the budding romantic relationship between “Tessa” (Josephine Langford) and “Hardin” (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin). Tessa is a freshman in college who has left her now long-distance boyfriend back home and eventually falls head over heels for complicated bad boy Hardin. Mcghie plays Landon, step-brother to Hardin and good friend to Tessa. While Landon wants Tessa to explore her new love interest, he warns her that she may not be ready for everything Hardin has to offer.

McGhie first revealed that while he ended up getting the role for “Landon,” he originally auditioned for “Zed.”

“Yeah, I was actually going up for Zed. But I always felt I was more aligned with ‘Landon.’ I went through a long auditioning process, it was a lot. But whenever I’d go in for an audition everyone was very sweet and caring.” McGhie also shared that he has a lot of “Landons” in his life that he can always go to for support.

“Oh yeah, I have great friends. They always look out for me, and are there for me in tough situations. Even with this, I was waiting a long time to find out if I got the role. And the entire time I had friends who would send me motivation and texts telling me ‘it’ll be great.’ Yeah, I definitely have a few Landons in my life.”

In another portion of the interview, Harris played a game with McGhie called “What Happens After?” McGhie answered what he would do in hypothetical scenarios. One of the questions was: You’re in a shoe store and you’re eyeing the last same pair of shoes that you’ve been wanting, what happens after?

“Oh man, that’s a good one,” McGhie said pondering the scenario. “You know what, I’d like to say I’d just be like ‘Dude, you can have them. No big deal. I think I’d be that way,” the actor said.

Lastly, McGhie discussed what it feels like to be a part of the new generation of Black actors.

“Wow, it’s so amazing. You know growing up, it was great seeing Black actors, and now theres even more of us because we have more opportunities and space. It’s great, and to just be a part of that means so much,” McGhie explained. McGhie went on to say that he has several projects in the works, but fans can look forward to seeing him in upcoming episodes of OWN’s dramatic series “Greenleaf” and a new TV series called “Deputy.”

“After” opens tomorrow, Friday, April 12, in theaters throughout North America.
