*Nipsey Hussle is gaining even more immortality. That’s because an intersection in South LA is going to be renamed for the departed rapper, whose memorial service is set for tomorrow.
The idea of naming the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Slauson Ave. to Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom Square was suggested by LA activist, Najee Ali. It gained credence by garnering almost 500,000 signatures on Change.org.
In fact, Ali’s petition is also notable because it’s the number one music related petition in Change.org’s history. EUR has exclusively learned that LA City Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson will make the official announcement this Friday in the council chamber. Ali, other activists and Nipsey Hussle’s parents will be in attendance.
“Ermias Asghedom known as ‘Nipsey Hussle’ was an icon and West Coast hero,” Councilmember Harris-Dawson said, via the Los Angeles Sentinel. “Nipsey’s genuine nature allowed him to be a light to everyone he interacted with from family, friends, fans, and his larger community.  As a father, brother, and son, Nipsey was a rock helping to build an empire that will continue through generations. Nipsey will always be remembered for delivering a pure, authentic Los Angeles sound, his numerous philanthropic efforts, his innovative, community-focused business mindset, and his humble heart.”

In other Nipsey Hussle news, tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, beginning at 10am (Pacific), the late rapper’s family will be hosting what’s being called a massive memorial service for him at Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. The free-to-the-public event is already “sold out” and will be a heavily guarded affair … primarily because of the chaos that broke out at a vigil a week before at the Nipsey’s Marathon Clothing, the site of his murder.
Folks the service should anticipate heavy security and will have to go through metal detectors and undergo bag checks at the entrance. The event will end will end with a celebratory 25-mile long procession around Los Angeles before Hussle is laid to rest.
