You Might Not Want to WATCH As Auburn Gymnast Breaks BOTH Legs in Ill Timed Landing

*Trust us, you are going to feel this young lady’s pain when you watch this. The Auburn University gymnast broke BOTH her legs while performing at the NCAA regional Semifinals this past Friday.

Her name is Samantha Cerio and boy do we feel bad for her. The injury is really gruesome to watch. As you can see in the video above, it happened while she was doing a blind landing during a floor exercise at the Baton Rouge, LA event.

“It was pretty tough to watch,” Auburn coach Jeff Graba told the Times-Picayune. “She’s a trooper. The last thing she said was, ‘Go help the girls.’ The girls rallied around her. They’re doing this for her right now.”

The accident was caused by Cerio reaching for the ground too early, according to Coach Grabio.

Cerio had to be attended to for nearly six minutes before she was taken off on a stretcher with air casts around both of her legs.

Friday night was my final night as a gymnast. After 18 years I am hanging up my grips and leaving the chalk behind. I couldn’t be prouder of the person that gymnastics has made me to become. It’s taught me hard work, humility, integrity, and dedication, just to name a few. It’s given me challenges and road blocks that I would have never imagined that has tested who I am as a person. It may not have ended the way I had planned, but nothing ever goes as planned. Thank you Auburn family for giving me a home and a chance to continue doing the sport that will always be my first love. I am honored to have had the privilege to represent the navy and orange AU for the past 4 years with my team by my side. Thank you for letting me share my passion with you. Thank you for letting me be a part of something bigger than myself. War Eagle Always ??

She was later said to have dislocated both of her knees as well as breaking both her legs.

After she was taken away, her team rallied around her with the hashtag #stickitforsam.

“It was really upsetting,” LSU coach D-D Breaux told the paper. “I saw the look on (our team doctor’s) face and he ran across the floor with lightning speed.”

yes, Cerio’s gymnast days are over, but on the other hand she won’t be competing anymore because she’s an aerospace engineer major who’s graduating in May and has already been hired by Boeing in Seattle.

Oh yeah, in case you’re wondering, Auburn was able to go on and advance despite the injury, but the next day in competition they were eliminated.
