University of Farmington Hurts Higher Ed More Than It Solves Immigration Crisis

*Did you know that the motto of Harvard is ‘Veritas’? This is a Latin word that literally translates to ‘truth.’ Well, this motto is quite plain and simple. The University of Farmington, on the other hand, had a motto that said ‘Scientia et Labor’ which translated to ‘knowledge is power’. Not bad, but this university had no labor, no science, and NO CAMPUS!

A Scam Set Up by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

If you visit the website of the University of Farmington, you’ll find that it is a pure scam; a scam set up by the Homeland Security Investigations with the help of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). But what is all the fuss about?

Well, there were a group of simple people – who were mostly immigrants – and they were looking for an education in order to improve their lifestyle. They found a deal on the internet that they just couldn’t refuse and immediately signed up. They were asked to pay a discounted fee for tuition which was quite lower than most colleges.

The University of Farmington asked people to pay tuition of $8000 to $11,000 for a year and they wouldn’t even have to show up for class! Sounds good right? Well, you probably would’ve fallen victim to this completely fake university.

The Perfect Ticket for Every Foreign National

If you hadn’t heard about this case before, this was probably because of all the new of immigrants being kept out by the border wall. There is also a probability that DACA recipients were a part of this compromise. It just goes to show how nasty Donald Trump’s administration is willing to become to deal with immigrants.

The University of Farmington had no classes and no professors, and it wasn’t even a University. If you were an immigrant in America and were on the lookout for the right paperwork, then this was the perfect opportunity. It was the perfect ticket to qualify for an American student visa.

The Damages

This incident is what perfectly qualifies for the phrase, ‘Paper chase.’ Reports found that about 600 students had been arrested and all of these people were just immigrants signing up to participate. The people who made the university website are facing federal conspiracy charges because they were acting like community scouts to reel people in.

If they get convicted, they will be facing about 5 years in prison.  The damage, however, is that these people could have probably been enrolled into a regular education institute. They could’ve even paid a little more if they hadn’t come across the University of Lies.

Now these people will always have a question lingering in their minds, “Who should I trust in America? Should I trust the government?”
