*Former first lady Michelle Obama appears to have made history by selling 10 million copies of her memoir “Becoming,” according to the book’s publisher.

“We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” Thomas Rabe, the chief executive of Bertelsmann, the parent company of Penguin Random House, said Tuesday at Bertelsmann’s annual conference in Berlin, Yahoo reports.

Penguin’s chief executive, Markus Dohle, co-signed that, per the Wall Street Journal. “I’m not aware, in my personal experience with Penguin Random House, that we ever sold 10 million units of a memoir,” Dohle said.

According to the BBC, citing Nielsen, “Becoming” is also a bestseller in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Greece.

Obama has been touring the country in support of her memoir, which is an in-depth look at her life before, during and after her family’s eight years in the White House.

In an interview with PEOPLE, she spoke about the value of being transparent about her and husband Barack seeking marriage counseling.

“Because we’re role models, it’s important for us to be honest and say, ‘If you’re in a marriage and there are times you want to leave, that’s normal,’ because I felt that way,” she said.

Barack Obama’s memoir is expected to be released by Penguin later this year.
