‘Shazam!’ Star Zachary Levi on Why Chaka Khan and Ariana Grande Top His SuperHero Theme Music Playlist

*Shazam! Is the latest entry into the DC universe. The film follows 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel) a foster kid who obtains the ability to transform into an adult hero with superpowers (Zachary Levi of TV’s “Chuck”) when he yells out the word “shazam.”

He received the power from an ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou.) Billy learns to navigate his new powers with the help of his foster brother Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) – who also happens to be the ultimate superhero expert.

The teenagers set off to figure out Shazam’s powers, filming their results and going viral along the way. When Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong, the “Kingsman” franchise) – a man with his own powers who has a beef with the world – threatens Billy, he must learn to stop playing superhero and actually become one to take down the evil Super-Villain.

EURweb’s Jill Munroe talked with the film’s star Zachary Levi about who he would like to see Shazam team up with in a Justice League film and why Ariana Grande and Chaka Khan would be his superhero theme music.

On his Instagram account, Levi shares his love of music by featuring songs he’s hashtagged #SOL for “soundtrack of life.” He said he would likely change his superhero theme music daily:

“it would probably be something really pop-y. I don’t know why I’m just super into pop and dance music. Even a little Ariana Grande. Thank you, Next.”

The family film features something for everyone. The additional cast includes Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews as foster parents Rosa and Victor Vasquez. Grace Fulton (Mary Bromfield,) Ian Chen (Eugene Choi) Jovan Armand (Pedro Peña) and scene-stealing Faithe Herman (“This is Us”) as the youngest in the foster family Darla Dudley.

Produced by Warner Bros., the next DC SuperHero hits the big on April 5
