Will Smith’s Genie on Display in New ‘Alladin’ Trailer; He’s Not Always Blue & He Raps! – WATCH

*About a month ago we showed you Will Smith‘s shockingly blue genie from the upcoming Disney flick, “Alladin” that people just weren’t feeling.

Well, now the studio has released the project’s first trailer and visually (and story-wise) things are starting to make more sense.

The full trailer, which debuted on “Good Morning America,” shows off the movie’s iconic musical sequences and more of Genie’s magical wish-granting powers.

Here’s more via Polygon:

Anyone who grew up in the ’90s or ’00s likely knows the story of Aladdin like the back of their hand. But the live-action version hints at a new direction for some of the characters, particularly hot Jafar and a more outspoken and determined Jasmine. A few new characters join the story, such as Jasmine’s loyal handmaiden Dalia (Nasim Pedrad) and Jafar’s right-hand man Hakim (Numan Acar).

Aladdin is one of the many live-action versions of Disney classics headed to theaters this year. The Tim Burton-helmed Dumbo comes out later this month, and The Lion Kingpremieres on July 19, with a sequel to 2014’s Maleficent coming out on Oct. 18. Aladdin, meanwhile, comes out May 24.

Additionally, this new “Aladdin” clip also gives fans a closer look at the evil Jafar, played by Marwan Kenzari, as well as the love story between Aladdin (Mena Massoud) and Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott).

Meanwhile, just like the other clips, social media seems to be fixated by Smith’s genie. But this time around, s lot of the reactions are from folks who are starting to feel where Smith and his character are coming from. You’ve got Twitter user @UPTOTASK, saying Smith is “basically playing his character in Hitch but this time with powers.”
